Olivier Flosse

Wine Director for MARC US

Flosse believes that traditions are served best when they are looked at with fresh eyes. It follows then that the French-born wine master's cellar at A Voce, which has earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence two years in a row [2006 & 2007], features the best Italian wines alongside a wide range of fine offerings from France and America. Categorized by country [60 percent from Italy] and region, Flosse's over 600 selection list offers affordability as well as luxury, ranging from $18/bottle to $9500/bottle.

At any given time at least 15 wines are offered by the glass, including: Moscato D'Asti, La Spinetta, Bricco Quaglia, 2006, Le Volte from Orneillaia, Tuscany 2004, and Arcano, Pinot Grigio, Fruili 2006.

The list features over 30 half bottles including: Alois Lageder, Pinot Grigio, 2006, Agliano Del Vulture, La Firma, Cantine Del Notaio 2004 and Stuhlmuller Vineyard, Chardonnay, Alexander Valley 2005.

In addition Flosse has selected over 30 large format bottles, including Magnums of Luce, Frescobardi, Tuscany 2001 and Petrus, Pomerol, 1989, a Double Magnum of Barbaresco, Gaja, Sori Tildin 1996, a Rheoboam of Dunn Howell Mountain, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 1997 and an Imperial of Dominus, Napa Valley 1994.

A firm believer that one need not spend excessively to enjoy quality wine, Flosse has dedicated 40 percent of the list to selections under $80 including: Villa Simone, Frascati Superiore, Malvasia Toscana 2006, La Cala, Vermentino di Sardegna 2005, Estancia Paso Nobles, Meritage 2004 and Barbera d'Alba, Vignaville, Brovia 2005.

Each month Flosse host a series of wine dinners, embarking guests on a voyage that explores a range of wine making regions, styles and vintages from the best producers in Italy, France and the United States. A Voce's wine dinners are intimate with limited seating (10-12 guests) and a representative from the featured winery is always present, making the night unique as well as educational. Upcoming wine dinners for Fall 2007 will feature the owner of Sassicaia, the director of Leroy, the director of Jean Louis Chave as well as evening featuring unique and large format Champagnes from Perrier Jouet.

Please join us for an upcoming Wine Dinner; to reserve a seat please call 212-545-8555 or email Olivier at olivier@avocerestaurant.com. The cost for each dinner is all-inclusive.
